Some have been skeptical that a rig mounted on a Dodge truck frame could actually have the power that they need to get the job done. So we offered to prove it.

On June 26th, 2020, Versa-Drill hosted the first V-12 Demo Day. Nine companies came to Versa-Drill headquarters to watch the V-12 in action. With 12,000 lbs. pullback and 7,000 lbs. pulldown set atop a RAM 5500 Tradesman, the V-12 is the most compact rig in the Versa-Drill fleet. It features a simplified operator’s panel with electronic controls in place of hydraulic controls. This enables custom, programmable features and a more intuitive user experience.

The twenty-five people who came to Demo Day watched the V-12 in action. Several drillers commented that it was a big deal that the rig had this much power. They talked about the work that could be done with a rig as small as the V-12 that other rigs just couldn’t get to. And everyone was impressed that the driver of the V-12 doesn’t have to have a CDL.

Three companies left as the proud owners of brand new V-12s. The advanced technology used to power the V-12 will make it easier for them to train new drillers on the rig and make drilling more straightforward. The drill’s grit will make sure it spends less time in the shop. And its small frame will open up new work possibilities for those companies that they couldn’t have dreamed of tackling with a full-sized rig. Congratulations to those three companies.
